Why Can’t I Stop Drinking This Tea?

The Magic of Blue Raspberry Crush Tea

There are two primary reasons I enjoy herbal teas every day.

  1. For the health benefits.
  2. For the delicious tastes.

And now that I’ve discovered Blue Raspberry Crush tea from The Spice and Tea Exchange, I need to add a third reason.

3. For the pretty colors.

I mean, just look at the vibrant purple and blue:

Those are both a cup of the same tea.

The cup on the left has lemon juice squeezed in it, which changes its color from blue to purple.

Being health conscious got me drinking herbal teas again.

Some teas boost the immune system. Others assist with digestion or aid heart health.

These teas — or for the tea purists among you, these tisanes — have multiple health properties. From reducing stress and inflammation to aiding weight loss, you’ll find a variety of reasons to drink them. (1)

But none of it matters if you can’t drink it because it’s too disgusting. Apple Cider Vinegar, for instance, is supposed to have significant benefits as well. But any more than, oh, let’s say a teaspoon a year, and I gag for days.

But a soothing cup of camomile, or a crisp blend with hibiscus? I can enjoy sipping that for hours.

There’s so much variety, I never know which tea I’m going to brew.

Except, a week ago, I discovered Blue Raspberry Crush at the local Spice & Tea store. I haven’t stopped drinking it since.

The nice lady made me a cup and demonstrated the magical effect of adding lemon to it. She said it’s like drinking Fruity Pebbles.

I disagree. The flavor is subtler, with a touch of berry and perhaps a hint of citrus. It’s so much better than a sugary children’s cereal.

The tea is smooth with a fruity undertone. I sometimes add just a dash of pure stevia to bring out the sweetness, but the tea stands on its own as well.

Add lemon, and in addition to the fun color change, a sharp citrus will counterbalance the calming taste.

I nearly ignored the health benefits. But, let’s take a look at the ingredients and what they bring to the table.

  • Lemongrass: There’s such a long list of goodness that lemongrass brings, I could write an entire article about them. It calms the stomach, eases anxiety, can aid in cancer prevention, is helpful for sleeplessness, and much, much more. (2)
  • Butterfly Pea Flowers: This ingredient is what makes the color change when lemon juice is added. Besides that fun, this herb helps with cognitive function, is an anti-inflammatory, and is excellent for the skin. (3)
  • Natural Raspberry Flavoring: Okay, no health benefits here. But did I mention, delicious?
  • Rose Petals: Rose tea boosts your metabolism. It can reduce menstrual pain as well and may have positive effects on insulin resistance and heart health. (4)
  • Cornflowers: Cornflower is an anti-inflammatory, eases stomach ulcers, and helps heal mouth sores. (5) It also alleviates chest congestion and can reduce fevers. (6)
  • Raspberry Leaves: Here’s another herb with a long list of positive effects. It can be a pregnancy and fertility aid, if that is something important to you. Its potassium helps with various heart problems, and like many herbs, it is an anti-inflammatory. [Note the caution to pregnant women on the reference below.] (7)

You can order some here. I won’t see a penny of it. I’d just like to hear back from you if you enjoy the drink.

And that drink will be amazing. It’s as fun and delicious as it is good for you. The first day I bought some, I had five cups. And I’m just going to keep pouring more and more.

Does this mean I have a drinking problem?
